Field Service Engineer/Customer Support
JOB SUMMARY
Perform installation and startup of new equipment. Work with customers and internal resources to resolve customer service related questions and issues. Manage incoming service calls and help coordinate appropriate actions. Maintain and manage the customer service activity data base. Travel to customer’s facility for troubleshooting and repair of existing installed base, electrical, mechanical, and computer components on vacuum equipment.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Internal first responder to customer calls
- Interact with customers on a daily basis
- Maintain and manage a service schedule
- Travel to customer’s facility for Installations, Upgrades, Service Contract Preventative Maintenance & On Demand service
- Participates in on-site system acceptance testing and training
- Coordinate directly with customers for travel schedule
- Answers inquiries (telephone, verbal, email, literature, etc.)
- Troubleshoot and repair tools that are returned to Denton (in house service)
- Assist in new system start up and customer training at Denton when required
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Document and maintain service reports
- Writing Preventative Maintenance procedures and defining spares lists
- Documenting Best Known Methods & Best Practices
- Other duties as defined by supervisor
- Apply computer/software skills in resolving clients’ issues
- Train customers in proper PM procedures
JOB QUALIFICATION
- Knowledge of Vacuum Technology, 5 years of experience desirable
- Experience troubleshooting electronics and complex mechanical assemblies
- Experience/knowledge of Thin Film Deposition beneficial
- Familiar with Microsoft Windows OS and Office Suite: Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and AutoCad
- Experience with PLC hardware/software: GE, Automation Direct, and IDEC a plus
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral
- Detail oriented and highly organized
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Experience in equipment electrical wiring practices
- Domestic and International travel required (up to 50%)
- Must have or be able to get a valid US Passport
- Candidate must be a US citizen
KNOWLEDGE/TRAINING
- Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of engineers, technicians, managers, clients and customers.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Ability to troubleshoot software, re-install OS, perform software upgrades and installation, troubleshoot hardware issues, set up peripherals, and help end-users understand Denton software
- Ability to troubleshoot PLC software & hardware, perform upgrades
- Train customers on operating Denton Software

CONTROLS ENGINEER
JOB SUMMARY
Designs, develops, and supervises all aspects of electrical control systems for Denton’s Coating Equipment including programming and technical support of PLC based hardware and software.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop electrical/controls system design solutions based on engineering principles and market requirements.
- Interpret client requirements, identify and address design parameters and engineering problems and ensure solutions are implemented accurately and within budget.
- Able to work directly with customer in a professional manner to resolve technical issues related to system controls.
- Provide technical support to external and internal customers.
- Resolve operational problems related to projects and minimize delays or unexpected cost increases.
- Responsible for project success whether as project leader or as part of a project team.
- Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed for all work completed.
- Support sales team in pre-sales technical concept and budgeting activities.
- Software design of customized solutions including manufacturing automation and safety systems.
- Prepares interim project status reports.
- Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting design including electrical requirements, robotic safety standards, and motor controls.
- Create customer documentation such as user manuals, programming diagrams, network diagrams, and electrical drawings.
- Support manufacturing, build and validation of systems which include pneumatics, vacuum pumps, power supplies, controllers, servos, vfd’s, relays, communication networks, touchscreens, pushbuttons and robotic integration.
- Ability to architect programs that are simple to test, well documented and versatile.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs any related tasks, as assigned.
- Up to 10% travel required.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or related Technical Degree, 4+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
KNOWLEDGE/TRAINING
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals and project plans.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Proficient with MS Office, HMI/SCADA Software, Programmable Logic Controllers and AutoCAD Electrical.
Experiences desired but not required:
- GE PLC/SIMPLICITY
- LEAN/Six Sigma
- AGILE Software Development
- Capital Equipment manufacturing experience especially in semiconductor, thin films or coating industries.
