Customers Collaborate in Denton Vacuum’s New Customer Application Development Center

December 14, 2012

Moorestown, NJ, December 14, 2012 – Denton Vacuum LLC, a leading supplier of production scale thin film technology systems, has opened a new Customer Application Development Center (CADC) in its Moorestown, New Jersey, engineering and manufacturing facility. Fully outfitted with cutting-edge Denton equipment and comprehensive film characterization tools, the CADC offers Denton’s customers a new set of powerful technology services: process development; testing and validation of new process characterization tools; advanced training; and process demonstrations.

“Our customers receive more than equipment from Denton,” explains Rod Moore, Denton’s president and CEO. “They get a true partner offering a new level of technology support. Customers can now develop, test and verify new production processes in a dedicated facility with our expert advice and the right characterization tools – taking as much time as needed without impacting their own plant operations, personnel and resources.” The CADC also supports optics, aerospace and medical customers who have approached Denton about in-sourcing their thin film production processes. In this tailor-made facility, Denton will train customers’ staff in the advanced process technology necessary to reach that goal. Studies show that this type of high-level partnership between customer and supplier measurably increases customers’ productivity and long-term success. Further, Denton’s CADC fills the gap that many customers experienced when they reduced in-house development budgets and staffing levels.

In operation for only a short time, the CADC is already delivering breakthrough results. Working with a customer in the medical field, Denton developed and tested a unique end-point detection system that enhances production yields. The customer will shortly take delivery of a Denton sputtering system incorporating this end-point detector. An optics customer has scheduled a multi-week process training and development program in the CADC that will enable its personnel to build and characterize pre-production optical components months in advance. “Particularly in today’s economy, experts say that capable supply partners are crucial to developing new processes, mitigating process risk, increasing manufacturing yield and reducing time to market,” Moore concludes. “Joint projects in Denton’s CADC confirm this view.”
